Deanes House pub reopens following £180k investment

A pub in Prescot has reopened with a brand-new look, funded by a joint £180k investment with independent operator Punch Pubs & Co. 

Deanes House, a town centre pub located a stone's throw away from the Shakespeare North Playhouse, reopened to the public on 23 February, led by publican Karen Bullen and her business partner James Burke. The venue will be managed by local husband-and-wife duo Lou and David Etchells. 

"Deanes House is a fantastic pub that has so much potential," says Bullen. "Guests will not be disappointed by what there is to offer, and James and I are extremely happy that Lou and David are managing it on our behalf."

The refurbished pub is the Bullen and Burke's third project, having already taken on two traditional pubs in Prescot.

The new look

Fitting in with the Shakespearean theme of the neighbouring theatre, Deanes House has been given a complete refresh with bold colours, patterned fabrics, velvet curtains and Shakespearean bric-a-brac. Feature-decorated ceilings, new light fixtures and textured wallpapers have also been added. 

The exterior has also been refreshed with a change of colour and new signage. The pub has a generous outside drinks area and ample parking at its rear, along with a south-facing garden adorned with decorative planters. 

Guests can expect the Shakespearean theme to run through the food menu, which offers light bites including a 'To Brie or Not to Brie' sandwich, 'Much Ado About Stew' and 'McBroth', served seven days a week from 12pm to 7pm.
