Luke Johnson joins Revolution as non-exec chairman

Luke Johnson has joined the board of Revolution Bars Group as non-executive chairman.

Hospitality investor Luke Johnson has joined the board of Revolution Bars Group as non-executive chairman, following the retirement of Keith Edelman.

Edelman, who has been chairman of the struggling bar group since 16 February 2015, left the business on Monday 9 September.

The appointment of Johnson, who is currently part-owner and chairman of bakery chain Gail's, will be seen as a positive move for Revolution, as it looks to rebuild following the launch of its widely publicised restructuring plan.

Johnson has chaired or founded various companies, including the private equity firm Risk Capital Partners, which has invested in a range of industries. He has also participated in Revolution's recent fundraise and holds 300,000,000 ordinary shares of 0.1p each in the company, representing 20% of its Ordinary Shares.

"Keith’s strong leadership has been instrumental in steering the group since 2015," says Rob Pitcher, CEO of Revolution Bars Group. "Through IPO, the pandemic, unsolicited offers and the most recent fundraise and Restructuring Plan. As he steps down, we express our gratitude for his support and vision, which have left an enduring footprint on the company. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

"We are excited to be working with Luke, who is vastly experienced in the hospitality sector and brings a wealth of knowledge to enable the next phase of the Group’s development."

Revolution Bars Group currently operates 65 bars and gastropubs, trading mainly under the Revolution, Revolucion de Cuba and Peach Pubs brands.
