Urban Pubs & Bars reopens Islington's Peacock

Urban Pubs & Bars has welcomed the return of The Peacock to Islington.

Growing London pub and bar operator Urban Pubs & Bars has welcomed the return of The Peacock to Islington high street.

After consultation with the local community in Angel, Urban has decided to return the venue to its original name, as a pub called The Peacock Inn stood on the site from 1564 until 1962. The pub was previously called The Junction.

Guests will find a premium dining menu at The Peacock, with brunch on weekends and, according to the group, 'one of the best Sunday roasts in London'.

"The pub has a rich history and was even mentioned in Charles Dickens’s Nicholas Nickleby," says a spokesperson from Urban Pubs & Bars. "Over the last year we have been able to learn more about the local community in Angel and we thought the renaming was the perfect opportunity to update the business to the represent the best of modern British pubs."

The opening of The Peacock takes Urban Pubs & Bars London venues to 55 locations, in line with the company's expansion plans.
