Parched relaunches former Young's pub in Peckham
Parched has reopened the Clock House Tavern in Peckham.
A former Young's pub in south east London's Peckham has been revived and relaunched by a local operator.
The Clock House Tavern, located opposite Peckham Rye Park, is now led by Parched, an independent pub group founded by four local friends.
The newly restored interior, spread across two floors, now features oak panelling, antique mirrors and leather banquette seating.
As well as the main bar, the pub boasts various areas and an events room. There is a snug area with a fireplace and a back area for food and parties.
The upstairs bar offers views of Peckham Rye Park. Outside is a large beer garden adorned with wisteria.
The food
Cooking in the kitchen is Gengelly's, which launched its first Parched residency in the Earl Of Derby in New Cross. The menu focuses on bold, unfussy dishes, such as grilled fish and steaks, seasonal flatbreads and fresh pasta, as well as a classic Sunday roast.
"We are beyond excited to be opening the Clock House Tavern right in our community," says says co-founder Neil Watson (pictured right). "The pub is in such a fantastic location, right on Peckham Rye park. It has great history and so much charm."
Parched also runs other pubs in the area, including The White Horse, The Earl of Derby and The Montpelier, where diners can currently try the burger from National Burger Awards Champion of Champions winner, Whole Beast.
