Boxpark has received planning consent for a new concept in London’s Liverpool Street.
Boxpark has received planning consent for its new Boxhall concept in London's Liverpool Street.
Following approval of its licelnsing by the City of London earlier this year, Boxhall City is set to open in summer 2024, after Boxpark agreed a lease with TfL for the Metropolitan Arcade building near Liverpool Street station.
Boxhalll is the group’s new high-end street food concept, with all sites to be developed in existing buildings, most of which will be historical, rich in cultural heritage or iconic in their respective local communities.
The leisure group is set to transform the Metropolitan Arcade building into an all-day dining destination, home also to signature bars specialising in a range of draught, craft beers and cocktails.
The approved proposals for Boxhall City include 16 kitchen units, two internal bars and a roof terrace. The 17,000 sq ft building has a ground floor with 280 internal seating covers and the garden roof terrace will boast an additional 170 covers.
"We are delighted to receive the news today that Boxhall City has planning approval, as we aim to revive the Metropolitan Arcade building while retaining its unique character," says Simon Champion, CEO of Boxpark. "Our team has worked extremely hard to secure this incredible central location in the City, and we are very excited about creating an all-day social dining destination to cater for hungry City workers, local residents in the neighbourhood, as well as attracting tourists and helping to drive footfall into the area."
The new Boxhall site is part of Boxpark's expansion plans following its recent announcement of the debut Boxhall concept in Bristol. Boxhall City will be the first of its kind in London with further sites to be announced later this year.
