Callooh Callay founder Richard Wynne has added another sibling to his cocktail bar family with The Duchess of Dalston.
Launching this month, the new east London site is a multi-faceted neighbourhood cocktail bar and brunch spot, aiming to embrace the diverse demographic of Dalston. It will aim to promote equality and well-being through in-house training programs, social media, brand activations and in-house events.
The Duchess of Dalston, Wynne's fourth London venture, is named after the antagonist to the Queen of Hearts in Lewis Carroll’s, Alice in Wonderland and will open with capacity for up to 70 covers indoors.
Continuing the cocktail philosophy of Callooh Callay, Wynne and his team have created a bar menu that includes signature drinks infused with home grown herbs from the venue's flat roof, as well as locally sourced ingredients from Ridley Road Market, honey from Bermondsey Street Bees and a local favourite Vietnamese coffee blend.
Nazareth Rodriguez, formerly of Mahiki and previous bartender at Callooh Callay, will be heading up a team of bartenders.
