Sixes prepares to open in Leeds

Sixes is set to open the doors to its 12th venue in Leeds.

The city of Leeds is set to welcome another immersive hospitality concept, as Sixes prepares to open the doors to its 12th venue.

Opening on Friday 15 November, the cricket-based creation will reside in Headingley, just 300 meters from the Yorkshire County Cricket Ground. It is taking over the former Arc Inspirations venue Manahatta.

The bar and restaurant operation is centred around cricket batting nets and high-level technology. Guests can choose from multiple game modes, facing cricket balls that are bowled out of a screen.

The Sixes concept was launched by Calum Mackinnon and Andy Waugh in 2020 as a place where customers could ‘play sport in a party bar’. The duo were originally behind the National Burger Awards-winning Mac & Wild.

"We are extremely excited to be bringing the Sixes concept to Leeds," says Mackinnon. "It’s a city that loves a good party, but is also renowned for its love of cricket, which makes it the perfect fit for us.

"Being located in the heart of Headingley, a place that is so synonymous with the sport, is the icing on the cake and we can’t wait to throw our doors open and welcome everyone."

Waugh spoke with Pub & Bar not long after lockdown, where he shared the foundations of the Sixes story.
